Broadcast Journalism
Student journalism is important for ensuring that student voices are amplified. However, sometimes writing can be stressful, and it can be difficult to get thoughts onto paper. I noticed that some people shied away from joining Spartan Banner since they thought they weren't good at writing. A diversity of mediums is important to prevent barriers to who is expressing themselves and who can tune in. The Spartan Speaks Podcast is a partnering club with the Spartan Banner. In my current role, I help write scripts and recruit students to share their thoughts and opinions on various issues.
I made an informative video about the history of the India-Pakistan conflict for my World History class. Knowing that many people are unfamiliar with the geography of the region, I found it beneficial to use a map and my own drawings.
UrduPodcast.mp4I recently met with the founder of the Urdu Seekihye podcast, Shireen, and was invited to create my own script about healthcare communications in Urdu. This experience allowed me to combine addressing a health-related issue and the importance of translation in a new way. Here is my part of the podcast. We are currently working on publishing this episode.
