School Vision and Culture

Excelling looks like: The vision for STEM is clearly defined and STEM culture has been established within the school. School staff, students, parents, and external stakeholders can articulate and model this vision and culture through conversations and actions. 

Emerson Elementary School’s STEM Vision and Mission Statement were originally established in 2020 under the direction of administration. In the years that followed, the STEM committee and the new administration determined both statements needed to be revised to reflect the beliefs of all stake holders in the school and community. In collaboration with Principal Paige Bennett and STEM committee members, a new STEM Vision and Mission Statement was established in 2023 to reflect the culture at EES.

The STEM committee consists of one representative from each grade level, one representative from Special Areas, the Instructional Lead Teacher, Media Specialist, Gifted teacher, Reading Specialist and Administration. The committee meets monthly to discuss our STEM culture, school wide projects, family involvement, and more. Grade levels meet weekly to infuse STEM into their daily lessons. 

All students at Emerson are exposed to STEM through high-interest, rigorous, hands-on curriculum that is provided through a STEM embedded curriculum. All classrooms utilize the school Engineering Design Process and our STEM Resource room.
