An Industrial Seminar on V2G and V2H in Industrial Application

The IET IEM On Campus successfully hosted a thought-provoking industrial seminar on Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) and Vehicle-to-Home (V2H) Applications on 22nd July 2025 at the Management House of IEM. The session was graced by Mr. Amitabh Sinha, Head of Growth, Membership and Accreditation, Thought Leadership and Policy at IET India, who delivered an enriching lecture on the evolving landscape of electric mobility and its intersection with sustainable energy systems. He elaborated on how V2G and V2H technologies are emerging as transformative solutions in the transition towards a greener and smarter energy infrastructure, allowing electric vehicles to serve not only as transport but also as mobile energy reservoirs that can exchange power with the grid and domestic setups.
Membership Drive of IET IEM on Campus students

The IET- IEM On Campus Student Chapter successfully organized a Membership Drive at the IEM Management House on 22nd July 2025. The event featured two distinguished guests: Mr. Sankar Nath Mukhopadhyay, Chairperson of the IET Kolkata Local Network, and Ms. Saudamini Dutta, Assistant Manager, Business Development, IET India. The aim of the session was to introduce students to the vision and opportunities of The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) and encourage them to become part of this global engineering community.
Industry Visit at Haldia Energy Limited

The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) KLN, in collaboration with the Electrical Engineering (EE) and Electrical & Electronics Engineering (EEE) Department of IEM Kolkata, organized a one-day industrial visit to Haldia Energy Limited on March 29, 2025. The visit aimed to provide students with valuable real-world exposure to the power sector, focusing on thermal power generation and its operational aspects.
Code on (Hackathon)

The EEE Department of IEM Kolkata in association with IET-IEM On Campus Student Chapter successfully organized “Code On”, a group-based online hackathon under the flagship event Skills Strike 4.0, from 21st to 23rd March 2025. The event aimed to encourage students to leverage Artificial Intelligence (AI) for Social Good, focusing on four critical themes: Climate Change, Healthcare & Mental Health, Education, and Urban Sustainability. The hackathon provided a platform for participants to develop AI-driven solutions that address realworld societal challenges.
Industry Talk on Recent Trends in Renewable Integrated Grid System

Department Electrical & Electronics Engineering (EEE), Institute of Engineering and Management (IEM), Saltlake, in association with IET-IEM on Campus, successfully organized an Industry Talk on "Recent Trends in Renewable Integrated Grid System" on 25th February 2025 at the CII Auditorium, IEM Management House. The event commenced with a warm welcome by the HODs of the EE and EEE Departments, who addressed the audience and highlighted the importance of renewable energy in modern power systems. They emphasized the need for sustainable and efficient grid integration of renewable sources to meet the growing global energy demand.
Phototron 2025 (A photography competition)

PHOTOTRON 2025, an online photography competition under SKILLS STRIKE 4.0, was organized by IET-IEM On Campus in association with Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering (EEE). The competition provided a platform for students to showcase their photography skills by capturing the beauty in everyday life. With free registration, it encouraged participants to explore unique perspectives on ordinary moments

INNOVATE ON (A project competition for UG students)

On 11th November 2024, the IET-IEM Student Chapter proudly hosted "Innovate On", a spectacular hardware tech event at the IEM Management House. With a mission to ignite creativity and solve real-world problems, the event showcased an extraordinary blend of talent, innovation, and collaboration. There were 32 teams participated including 150+ students.
Industry Visit at Tata Power Skill Development Institute & Maithon Thermal Power Plant

On August 29, 2024, 21 students from the IET-IEM Student Chapter participated in an insightful industry visit to the Tata Power Skill Development Institute (TPSDI) and Maithon Thermal Power Plant. At TPSDI, students learned about the institute's training programs aimed at enhancing technical skills for the power sector, with an emphasis on sustainable and renewable energy.
TECH-INTELLINA 2024 (A project competition for the UG students in hybrid mode)

TECH-INTELLINA 2024 was organized by Electrical & Electronics Engineering Department (EEE) in association with IET Kolkata Local Network with the aim of expanding practical knowledge and skills and helping students gain expertise. The event was held in hybrid mode: the preliminary rounds were online, and the final round took place offline at the Jadavpur University Electrical Department. This year we have received a huge response from the participants from all over the west bengal. Initially we have received 89 projects, from that 48 have been selected for the pre-final round presentation. From those 16 projects have been chosen for the final round.
CODE-ON (Hackathon Based on Data Structures & Algorithms)

Department of Electrical Engineering, Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering and IET–IEM Student Chapter conducted CODE-ON, as a part of the third edition of the annual flagship event – SkillsStrike 3.0 on 21st January, 2024. CODE-ON was an online hackathon based on Data Structures and Algorithms which recorded participations from all over the country. This event gave the participants an opportunity to showcase their talents and present their ingenious logical thinking and coding skills.
2 Day Workshop on MATLAB based Modern Control and Signal Processing Applications

On the 26th and 27th of August 2023, the IET IEM Student Chapter organized an enlightening two-day workshop on "MATLAB-based Modern Control and Signal Processing Applications." The event, held online via Zoom Meeting, aimed to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of the practical applications of control systems and signal processing using MATLAB as well as analysing the response signal of a system such as electrical and electronic circuits, mechanical systems etc. The distinguished speaker for the day, Dr. Jayati Dey, an Associate Professor of the Electrical Engineering Department at NIT Durgapur, brought a wealth of expertise to the virtual stage.
INDUSTRIAL VISIT TO NEW TOWN WATER TREATMENT PLANT

SKILLSSTRIKE 2022

The IET – IEM student chapter conducted the second edition of their annual flagship event – Skillstrike (Fort of Fortes) on the 11th and 12th of November, 2022. It is an event where everyone gets a chance to showcase their various talents. Overall, around 100 participants form various colleges were competing with each other in this event. This event has got six different categorized sub events to showcase various types of talents and get recognized, they are namely– Timer Quizon, Posteron, Innovaton, Articon, Phototron and Code-on.
2 Days Workshop on Machine & Deep Learning

The session commenced with the speaker talked about how AI is shaping modern-age technology by solving real-world problems. He explained some real-world applications of AI in sectors such as shopping, healthcare, finance, smart technology, social media, security, etc. Lastly he talked about the career opportunities in AI, Data Science, and ML in India as well as globally namely in fields such as game development, speech recognition, language detection, computer vision, expert systems, robotics, etc.
Industry Visit to EASTERN TRANSFORMER & EQUIPMENT PVT LTD

All the 30 Student Members of IET-IEM Student Branch has well participated and secured knowledge on Transformer construction techniques and procedure involved in transformer construction. Various methods of testing the Transformers are known and methods are noted. Information on testing the transformers is encapsulated. The student members are divided into 2 teams and well experienced engineers are allotted to each group.
A Webinar “Electric Vehicle: The Future Automotive"

The webinar was inaugurated by our respected speakers Mr. Shankar Nath Mukhopadhyay and Mr. Susanta Ray Nag from IET YPS local chapter, Kolkata. We also had Dr. Prof. Arun Kumar Bar and Tapas Kumar Datta from Institute of Engineering & Management as Speaker's for the inaugural session. The session was hosted by our IET Student Chapter members, Shreya Dutta and Oiswariya Nag.Followed by which Mr. Mukhopadhyay highlighted the concerns regarding energy consumption and usage in recent times. He throws light upon the practice of distributed or small scale generation and how Electric vehicleplays a pivotal role in the future venture.

Apart from indulging in creativity, the event also dealt with the technical inclination of an individual.

The present online social media platform is afflicted with several issues, with hate speech being at the predominant forefront. The prevalence of online hate speech has fuelled horrific real-world hate-crime. A deeper inspection into the profiles and network of hateful and non-hateful users reveals that the former is more influential, popular, and cohesive. Thus, the research explores the interesting facets of diffusion dynamics of hateful users and broadens our understanding of hate speech in the online world.
