Invited Talk On “Mimicking Human Organ With Mems And Microfluids Technology”

Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) and Department of Electrical Engineering (EE) had organized an invited talk on Mimicking Human Organ With Mems And Microfluids Technology. The event was sponsored by the IEEE SSCS SBC, IEEE IES SBC, and the IEEE SSCS Kolkata Section.
Before his talk, Dr. Koushik Guha, Head of the ECE Department at NIT Silchar, was felicitated by Dr. Rajat Shubhra Paul, along with Prof. Suman Sarkar and Prof. Dr. Sourav Das.
Dr. Guha then delivered a lecture on "Mimicking human organs with microfluidics and MEMS technology," discussing how these small-scale devices can replicate human organ function for research. The talk was a great success, promoting knowledge sharing among students and faculty. Around 50 student and faculties also attended the event.
Hive Control Smart Home Control App Development (Using No-Code Platform)

Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) and Department of Electrical Engineering (EE) in association with IEEE Control System Society IEM Student Branch Chapter, Technically co-sponsored by IEEE Joint CSS-IMS Kolkata Chapter have organised Hive Control Smart Home Control App Development Contest using No-Code Platform.
The event was conducted in two parts – Round 1 was a Quiz Competition held on 1st September where 22 teams that participated, and among them, 8 teams qualified.
The second round was the main event which was held on 3rd September where participants presented their ideas/performances and engaged with the audience and judges. The Round 2 Event began with the gracious arrival of the Chief Guest Prof. Dr. Debasis De. The session formally commenced with a welcome speech, extending greetings to the dignitaries, participants, and audience. The program then progressed with the presentations by the participants. After a careful evaluation of the presentations, the results were announced.

The Fault Hunter – Circuit Debugging Challenge

Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) in collaboration with the IEEE SSCS IEM Student Branch under the IEEE SSCS Kolkata Section have organised The Fault Hunter, a circuit debugging competition.
The competition commenced with an online preliminary round, where participants were required to answer over 30 rapid-fire questions within just 10 minutes. The top 10 scorers from this stage advanced to the offline round. In the offline round, participants were tasked with identifying faults in a full-wave rectifier circuit within a stipulated time.
The event highlighted participants’ technical proficiency, problem-solving skills, and strong grasp of circuit fundamentals. Their presence of mind, enthusiasm, and curiosity were evident throughout the competition, making the event both challenging and inspiring.
IEEE DEI Grant Sponsored Outreach Program

IEEE IEM Women in Engineering (WIE) student affinity group in collaboration with IEEE WIE Kolkata Section organised an outreach program in the R10 WIE IEEE DEI grant sponsored outreach program for school children titled “School Children for IOT based Accessible and Inclusive Environment Creation”, on 22nd July, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM at the Sirakole Girl’s High School, South 24 Parganas, India. 50 students from class VIII, IX and X attended the awareness program (lecture delivered by Professors from Jadavpur University and Institute of Engineering & Management) and followed by a workshop where 10 nos of IOT related project demonstrated by students from IEM and JU.
IEEE WIE Day 2024

IEEE WIE Day 2024 celebrated the theme "Inspire, Empower, and Innovate" through a series of dynamic events, including keynote speeches by women leaders in STEM, panel discussions on diversity in technology, and hands-on workshops on emerging fields like AI and sustainability. The event provided a global platform for networking, mentorship, and skill-building, fostering collaboration among engineers, researchers, and students to drive inclusive innovation.
Squid Game

The Squid Game event organized by IEEE IEM Student Branch and IEEE Computer Society IEM Student Chapter was held on 18th March 2023 from 10:30 AM to 4:30PM.
• Inspired by the Netflix Drama Series, the Squid Game event was a fun event with 4 thrilling rounds.
•These rounds tested the participants on a wide range of skills and knowledge including basic aptitude, general knowledge, coding, etc.
• Each round had a system of elimination, taking only the qualified participants to the next round.
The Colours of Equity

The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), Institute of Engineering & Management (IEM) Student Branch is collaboration with IEEE WIE Kolkata Section organized an event "The Colours Of Equity" celebrating International Women's Day and the festival of colors Holi. The event was inaugurated by Prof. Dr. Ankita Pramanik, Assistant Professor, ETC Department of IIEST, Shibpur. Then the inspirational talk on “empowering woman” was delivered by Prof. Dr. Kanika Bandhopadhaya Professor and HOD, EE Department of IIEST, Shibpur followed by a cultural events.
CODE OF DUTY

IEEE IEM SB organised "Code of Duty" on the 12th of November from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM, hosted by GeeksforGeeks on their platform. We received more than 500 registrations from enthusiastic students eager to participate in this coding competition. This competition not only gave them a chance to showcase their talent but also gave them a platform to practice their coding skills. It also helped boost their confidence to work in software development.
DEVSPRINT

IEEE Computer Society IEM Chapter co-hosted by IEEE IEM Student Branch and other IEEE student chapters and affinity groups like APS, CAS, WIE, and EDS hosted "DevSprint” on the 8th of November from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm at IEM ‘Management’ Campus.
Tech-Talk

IEEE Computer Society IEM Student Branch Chapter successfully conducted one of the much-awaited webinars on “GSoC and Career in Computer Science” of 6th August 2022 at 6:00 PM IST. The session was inaugurated by Dr. Senjuti Khanra (Branch Chapter Counsellor) and the speaker of the event was Mr. Somal Chakroborty (NIT Warangal -CSE Department, Batch of 2018). He has cleared GSoC ‘2020 and is also an experienced software developer. Somal has his own blogging channel (Scwripple) where he mentors GSoC aspirants and currently has a community of over 250 students across India.
Workshop

The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), Institute of Engineering & Management (IEM) Student Branch, organized a session on Entrepreneurship workshop. The event was held in hybrid mode and was streamed via Zoom for participants who opted for the online mode .The day began with an insightful seminar on Entrepreneurship by Abhijit Burman, founder and CEO of Merit Academy. After this, a hands-on workshop in collaboration with Ogma Tech Labs on the topic of Arduino. The session began with a set of questions for the attendees to map their knowledge of the topic, followed by a hands-on demonstration of the tech aided with a proper explanation.
Elevate 2022

The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), Institute of Engineering & Management (IEM) Student Branch, was buzzing with Webinars, workshops, panel discussions and competitions as they hosted its annual fest Elevate 2022 in online and hybrid mode from14th to 17th April, 2022. Elevate was covered by media partner, The Telegraph Edugraph. The event witnessed an overwhelming response and claimed 180 plus registrations from students all over the nation.
