DISTINGUISHED LECTURE ON ARM Cortex MCU Deep Dive with Live Demos
The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Institute of Engineering & Management, Kolkata, organized a Distinguished Lecture on “ARM Cortex MCU Deep Dive with Live Demos” on 18 March 2026. The session was conducted in online mode and was attended by students from EE and EEE disciplines.
The objective of the lecture was to provide in-depth knowledge of ARM Cortex microcontrollers, an important part of the Microprocessor and Microcontroller syllabus, and to bridge the gap between theory and industry applications.
The lecture was delivered by Mr. Turjasu Pyne, Sr. Embedded Architect at TW Instruments, who shared valuable industry insights in embedded systems and ARM-based design.
3-DAY HANDS-ON WORKSHOP ON “APPLICATION OF SOFT COMPUTING ON POWER SYSTEM”
The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) successfully organized a 3- day hands-on workshop on “Application of Soft Computing on Power System” from 10th March 2026 to 12th March 2026 at the college premises. The workshop was conducted as part of an academic initiative to enhance students’ practical knowledge and research capabilities in modern power system optimization techniques.
The primary objective of the workshop was to:
Provide students with exposure to advanced soft computing techniques.
Enable understanding of their applications in modern and dynamic power system scenarios.
Develop hands-on skills in solving optimization problems in power systems.
Encourage research-oriented thinking among students.
5 Day Workshop on VLSI DESIGN & FPGA TRAINING with MSME TOOL ROOM KOLKATA
Event Date: 08-12-2025 to 12-12-2025
The event was organized by the Electronics and Electrical Engineering Department, IEEE SSCS IEM SBC and MSME Tool Room, Kolkata (Government of India Society). The first two days held in the college premises, focused on VLSI fundamentals, where students designed logic gates and circuits such as full adders and multiplexers using DSCH2 soBware and learned to convert these circuits into ICs. The last three days, held at the MSME Centre, Noapara, introduced MOSFETs, and students designed logic gates using PMOS, NMOS, and CMOS in DSCH2, followed by implementation in Microwind soBware used in real industry. They were also trained to code logic gates using Quartus II soBware without manual design. The workshop concluded with a guided tour of the MSME campus, providing valuable industrial exposure.
The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, IEM, Kolkata, has organised an online Coding Hackathon on 17th September, 2025, as part of the Placement Refresher Course.
This gave the participants a great opportunity to sharpen their problem-solving skills, practice coding under time limits, and prepare for upcoming placement challenges to get placement-ready.
