Managed to squeeze some time to find this powerful healing spot right after I descended from Mount Fuji, and before catching the highway bus from Kawaguchiko to Shinjuku.
You can take a bus from Kawaguchiko station and alight at the Kawaguchiko Post Office. You will walk pass Kawaguchiko Asama Shrine on your left. It is a serene shrine tucked away on the outskirts of the forest, just before the gradual ascent up a narrow road. From the road's end, it's a short walk through the forest, which is surrounded by ancient pine trees.
母の白滝 pronounced as "Haha-no-shirataki", is a hidden gem away from the crowd. There is a torii gate and a little shrine beside the waterfall to say a little prayer. The mist from the strong waterfall cools the surrounding area, and you may even have a little picnic there while listening to the waterfall splash.
Beside the 母の白滝, there is a steep flight of stairs that you can climb to the top, where you will find 父の白滝 ("Chichi-no-shirataki"). There is also a torii gate and a stone shrine beside it. The trail then extends up to Mount Mitsutoge 三つ峠.
