Summer Nordic

Edina Nordic has offered a Summer Program that helps skiers gain valuable skills and conditioning during the off season with strength training, dry land drills, and roller skiing. Most of our practices take place at Hyland starting from the Jan's Place parking lot. EHS Nordic does have a limited number of roller skis for rental. The program is open to skiers entering into 9th grade and above with a limited number of openings available and like skill level groupings desired. We will try to accommodate and place all skiers wishing to participate into a like skill pod for best development. The training on roller skis is serious and falls do happen, we ask skiers to have racing experience and be aware this is not for new skiers who do not know the skate gears, V1, V2, V2 Alt. Our program does not influence the placement of skiers for the High School Ski Season and many other training options and clubs exist to keep skiers fit and having fun.

Our sessions typically run on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:30-9:30 AM in June and July.+ weather related make up sessions.

*No sessions over the July  Holiday (MN state HS league rules: No coach contact during that time period.)

EHS SUMMER NORDIC PARTICIPATION WAIVER 

Summer Nordic is open to skiers who are going into Grades 9-12 for fall of 2023. Skiers need to have participated on a Winter Nordic Team and raced at a High School Ski Meet. 

Once we know the potential numbers of participants we can finalize summer nordic  plans. We have to obtain and purchase insurance and request reservations for our group at Hyland Lake Park.  We generally start as a whole group and then we break into smaller learning groups. For example; advanced roller skiers may do hill repeats as part of a session while beginning roller skiers might be working on safety on roller skis. (Learning first to stop safely under ALL conditions.) 

** If we reach capacity for our Tuesday and Thursday Group, there is the possibility that we can form a group that could meet at another day and time. (all dependent on numbers and ability levels) TBD!
