Centro Cultural, EdenAcres and Clean Water Services
YES! STEAM summer camp 2015 program proposal
In order to expand and enrich Centro Cultural’s YES!-STEAM k-12 summer camp program, EdenAcres, in partnership with CWS, will provide an outdoor day-camp for students enrolled in the Centro Cultural (Centro) program during the month of July. The proposed day-camp will take place at the Clean Water Services (CWS) Tualatin River Farm (TRF) location in Hillsboro, OR. Day-camp at the TRF will run from July 6th, 2014 through July 31st, 2014 and will be held four (4) days per week, Monday through Thursday. EdenAcres will provide one (1) Site Support staff and four (4) Farm Teachers. EdenAcres seeks to assist in paying for Farm Teachers, Site Support staff and teaching materials through grant writing. CWS will help reduce the cost of camp by providing use of the TRF and transportation to and from TRF for students during camp for no additional cost.

Curriculum Adaptation and Alignment
EdenAcres Farm Teachers will work with Centro Classroom Teachers and CWS to adapt curriculum used in 2014 at B-street Farm for the new TRF site. EdenAcres and Centro teachers will work collaboratively to ensure that curriculum for both sites is aligned, age appropriate and complementary. Curriculum adaptation and alignment will take place in May in order to ensure sufficient time to work out any problems and gather necessary teaching materials.

Provide Farm Teachers:
Centro hires four (4) EdenAcres staff as Farm Teachers @ $22.00/hr. There will be a maximum of 15 students per teacher to ensure that each student receives a high-quality experience that is safe, fun and educational.
4 teachers x 16 days x 6 hrs = 384 total teaching hrs
384 total teaching hrs x $22.00/hr = $8,448
Provide Site Support:
EdenAcres will provide 1 Site Support staff @ $22.00/hr to ensure site preparedness, safety and program success while teachers and students are on site. The Site Support staff will arrive one hour prior to students to prepare for the day and will stay for 1 hour after camp to clean up.
8 hrs x 16 days x 1 person = 128 hrs
128 hrs x $22.00/hr = $2,816
It is the intention of EdenAcres to reduce the cost by providing a discounted rate to Centro Cultural for EdenAcres teachers and staff from $22.00/hour to $18.00/hour. EdenAcres will also assist by applying for funding from Metro Nature in Neighborhoods Grants and Diak Family Oregon Ecology Education Program.
