Committee Guidelines
All committees will be chaired by a board member
Some committees will be comprised of only board members
Some committees will be comprised of staff, volunteers, and board members
Some committees will be supported by consultants or advisors.
Board members, staff, and volunteers serve and vote as equals on committees
Upon formation, committees will decide on action guidelines according to the template provided (create our own template). Action guidelines will be posted on the committee website.
Committee members may attend board meetings but do not vote in board decisions
Committee action proposals are brought to the board for approval. Upon board approval, committee actions are implemented by staff, volunteers, or board members, as determined by committee guidelines.
If staff are implementing the action, staff time must be approved by the ED. The ED and the committee chair will agree on the number of staff hours that can be allocated to the committee task. If the staff hours are used up before the task is completed and the ED is unable to allocate additional hours, then volunteers will need to complete the task.
Board members acting on behalf of committees in the sphere of staff responsibilities will be considered volunteers and directed by the ed or designated staff representative.
Committees will meet on a regular basis and will take minutes to be posted to the committee webpage.
