Subject: environmental ed. in Forest Grove . . .
To: nbond@pps.net
Hello Nancy, We’ve met at a couple of GPSEN meetings (I’m the guy from Canada, attending school at Marylhurst U. ), one just a month or so ago.
I’m doing my internship work this term, with a group of educators (led by Terry O’Day of Pacific U.) who are trying to preserve some form of k-12 environmental education in Forest Grove (the program that had been running at the “B Street Garden” has been discontinued).
The group has a vision that extends beyond Forest Grove (see our web site for more info: https://sites.google.com/site/fgexploratorium/home ) but Forest Grove is a start.
Having met you, at GPSEN I thought it might be wise to connect with you about this group, see if there was any sort of liaison with the school district you might be able to help with.
I’m very impressed with the quality of dedication to the environment and children’s ed. these folks have.
I’m noticing, as we put together a board of trustees and look for grants, they are not as well connected as other groups in bigger cities, so the going is more challenging.
Any help would be appreciated.
Sincerely, Rod Endacott

Subject: Brochure ideas . . .

Hi Marcia, I’ve been looking at the brochure you’ve started and have a few thoughts.
Firstly, if there is a way for you to post (on our site; “Outreach” page) or email me, a copy of what you’ve done. That way I can actually “point” to what I’m “talking” about.
Initial thoughts:
on the front and back, I like the inset color; it does a nice job framing.
I like the yellow background color and the font style . . . excellent.
Actually the front is perfect; the layout, content and logo
we just need to adjust the logo . . . I do like the idea of a person in the middle.
I think that person should be a female; I believe the feminist agenda, sustainability, education, are one and the same.
on the back, I like the content; the points need highlighting with an arrow ➢ or dot • and the headings in bold type.
the inner three page display . . . create some visual clues to lead the reader’s eye from top left to bottom right
the content is great here
I like the mix of photos and info. but somehow it needs some linear-ness or 1,2,3 ness.
and take care with the photos . . . they should compliment the info. not distract; i.e. the close-up with the girl’s face - I find distracting.
I like the idea of having local, real people in the photos
I like everything about the first inner page “What is EdenAcres", etc. . . .
These are just my thoughts; basically I really like what you’ve done, and the suggestions are just minor tweak possibilities.
Thanks!
Rod
