Developing Skills to Digitally Express our Learned Thoughts
TPACK AND SAMR EXPLORED AND ISTE ALIGNED
Purpose: Use a digital web 2.0 tool to represent new knowledge for others to understand.
Rationale: In order for our own students to practice 21st century skills, we must do the same, and become one with the dispositional attitude of an integrative technologically educational thought process. In this assignment, you will spend time working with each other to first share and discuss your thinking before creating a visual representation of your thoughts about TPACK and SAMR while also aligning the frameworks with the ISTE standards for Educators.
Time: Hour
You may not need the entire hour, or you may not finish it entirely – both are okay! The give and take of a learning environment is important to embrace as is the need for PLAY and EXPERIENCE.
Product: A digital expression of TPCK, SAMR, and the ISTE STANDARDS in an aligned configuration
Directions:
1. REFLECT/SHARE/MAKE SENSE OF:
What were your thoughts from the readings? How did you grasp the ideas of TPACK and SAMR as frameworks for integrating technology? How do you understand the importance of having a Framework for integrating technology into your teaching and student learning? Share your thoughts here at VoiceThread
2. PLAN the PRODUCT:
What makes the most sense visually – how do you see these two frameworks fitting together? What are the larger concepts being addressed? Are you seeing similarities or differences – does one fit in the other like a puzzle or part of a “machine?” Doodle or sketch it out.
3. ISTE STANDARD INCORPORATION:
Visit the ISTE Standards for Educators page and consider the seven (7) standards as presented. Which of these standards are addressed by TPACK and SAMR? How do they align with the frameworks as you are planning to express them? Can they be used to help formulate a stronger expression?

Important points of note:
Play: It is imperative that you play. I am giving you time to explore and examine all aspects of the program you decide to use. I am less concerned about the product than I am the experiences - So play! Mess around! Create and experiment! What is possible, and how can it be achieved?
Effort: Could you do the bare minimum? Yes. However, when it comes to creative and unique representations of knowledge for assessment purposes, what you will find - it is easy to assess and see if students understand and grasp and have “read” the material. There is no failure here – you all have an “A” – act as you would to earn said “A” by learning.
