Learning Theory

Cognitivism

The learning theory our resource will be based on will be Cognitivism, because the way that people learn how develop their own webpages starts with learning the processes that go into it. Eventually the learner would be able to create their own code and to develop creative new ways to make it their own. This learning theory differs from behaviorism, since behaviorism is built on repetition and reinforcement from external sources, while cognitivism is centered around examining external data and using the mind as a processor to understand and organize thoughts and memories.

Our Team's Rationale

We chose this learning theory because web development can get quite complex and this differs from behaviorism since that learning theory is centered around reinforcement of certain external factors, while cognitivism is basically the understanding of both the external and internal factors while also processing that information in order to produce a certain result. Furthermore, within our learning resource, learners will be asked to complete activities demonstrating the concepts they have learned, such as creating a simple HTML webpage and modifying it with CSS.
