Tips for Outfitting Tools
General
For most people, coriolis will feel more intuitive and organised. For fast building unengineered builds it is also a good bit quicker than EDSY thanks to the core internal presets. On the other hand EDSY will be quicker at theorycrafting engineered builds if set up correctly with module presets, and in general offers more useful and importantly, correct stats. Coriolis also had many partial outages, downtimes, etc. in the past, while EDSY was quite stable.
In the ship selector page, both outfitters will allow you to sort all ships for whichever base stat you are interested in
Both outfitters will update stats given your selection of pip settings, cargo, fuel, etc.
The Elite Dangerous Ship Anatomy website lets you judge and compare hardpoint placement & convergence, as well as check the placement of utility mounts, hatches, thrusters, etc.
v3.6.2.1
You can copy modules by Ctrl + Dragging
You can save engineered modules with a custom name, to be quickly able to place them again. Visit the Guide to EDSY Module Presets for a starter selection of custom modules
You can enable and disable visibility of additional per module stats right in the build overview in the top right
You can export the build as a long link, shortlink or text format. You can further import a variety of formats (for Inara, etc.), and open a link to EDDB with all components filled in
Selecting the ship in the outfitting screen reveals a lot of additional information, such as maximum heat dissipation etc.
v3.0.0
You can copy modules by Alt + Dragging
You can setup Core internals with one click. Note that only Multipurpose and Combat of these presets are actually useful
Right-clicking the top bar of Optionals, Hardpoints, Utilities removes all modules.
Selecting the top bar of Optionals, Hardpoints, Utilities allows you to fill all remaining slots with a module type of choice
Many stats in Coriolis aren't trustworthy. The top bar DPS for example lists burst DPS, not sustained DPS. Railgun damage stats are borked. Railgun damage types are wrong. The resting heat stat is unusable.
