Arthatantra 2025, the inter-institute students’ fest organised jointly by OIKOS, the Economics Society and the Department of Economics, Presidency University, was successfully held on 6 and 7 November 2025 under the theme “Forging Minds, Fueling Legacies.” The two-day academic festival brought together undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral students from various institutions, creating a vibrant platform for scholarly exchange, critical engagement and collaborative learning. The programme commenced with an inaugural session followed by a special lecture on “Managing Capitalism” delivered by Professor Anup Kumar Sinha (Indian Institute of Management Calcutta and Bandhan Bank), which set the academic tone of the event.
The fest featured multiple parallel paper presentation sessions across UG, PG and PhD categories, providing young researchers an opportunity to present their work and engage in rigorous discussion. In addition to research presentations, Arthatantra 2025 hosted a range of intellectually engaging competitions, including an auction game, quiz and debate, encouraging students to apply economic reasoning in interactive formats. A major highlight of the second day was the panel discussion on “Contemporary socio-economic realities in Bengali cinema,” with distinguished panelists from film studies and media scholarship, which stimulated rich interdisciplinary dialogue. The event concluded with a prize distribution ceremony, marking the successful completion of Arthatantra 2025 as a dynamic and inclusive academic initiative of the Department.
