The objective of Oikos is to encourage students of the Economics Department to participate in extra-curricular and extra-academic activities like debating, essay writing, lectures by eminent persons, movie screening, and similar activities.

The Department of Economics and Oikos jointly organised a lecture on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Children in India. The lecture was delivered by Mr. Prabhat Kumar, Social Policy Specialist, UNICEF on 19th February, 2025 at 3:00 pm.
The Department of Economics and Oikos jointly organised an anti-ragging sensitization even on 20th November, 2024 from 3:30 pm. Various events like skit, singing/slam poetry, speeches on anti ragging, poster presentations, and essay writing competition were held.
Department of Economics along with OIKOS, Economics Society celebrated Working Womens' Day on 11th March 2024 at 3.30 pm in Room No. 21 of the Department. The brochure can be downloaded from here.

Department of Economics, Presidency University along with OIKOS, the Economics Society organized an online lecture by Ms. Subhra Bhattacharjee on 8th September, 2023 from 7 PM. Ms. Bhattacharjee is an alumna of the Department of Economics and is currently the Strategic Planner and the Head of the United Nations Resident Coordinator's Office in Bahrain. She delivered a talk on Global Development Priorities- the 2030 agenda.

Greetings from the OIKOS, Economics Society, Presidency University, Kolkata!
We are happy o announce the results of the Paper Presentation Competition, one of the most prestigious events for the Undergraduate Economics majors, held on 26th March 2022.
Winner : Archita Singha, Raunak Chatterjee , Rounak Pal, Spandan Banerjee (Jadavpur University): "Tale of Two Peaks: Political Polarisation and the Median Voter Theorem".
1st runner up: Anik De, Elina Das , Pragna Dutt (Jadavpur University) "Analysing the relation between social sector expenditure, HDI and growth: a state-level study in India".
2nd runner up: Upanita Barman (Presidency University Kolkata) "Impact of interest rate on inflation- A study between India and the United States".

Oikos had organised an essay competition on 11 September 2019. There were two groups: one for UG 1 and UG 2 students, and the other comprising of UG 3, PG 1 and PG 2 students.
