Designed to meet the requirements of Appendix U of the RRS for Audio-Signal Racing System (ASRS) i.e. sound signals only.
Note that ASRS countdown can only be used for single fleet, single start races
Use the Settings Screen, under Race Type - Starting Sequence to select ASRS Countdown
To control the countdown, the app uses a text file with the format:
M:SS RS or M:SS RSRS
Where:
M:SS is the time of the required signal - e.g. 0:30, would signal at 30 seconds to start
R is the number of times this signal is repeated - example 1, 2, 3, up to 9
S is the signal type, which can only be:
A - Attention - about 250ms
S - Short - about 500ms
L - Long - about 1s
Example entries:
3:10 5A (five attention i.e. very short)
3:00 3L (three long)
1:30 1L3S (one long and three short)
Upon first use of the DSRC app, it will check if there is and existing ASRS_Countdown file, and if one is not found a default set (as listed in Appendix U) will be created. This can be changed using the editor.
The editor also contains a 'Reset' button, which if press will reload the dafault set.
One thing to note - Loading the required sounds seems to take a few second to initialise after the app displays the Race Screen.
This shouldn't be a problem, unless you press Start immediately after entering the Race Screen (doesn't crash, just might miss or cut short the first signal). I would suggest waiting for at least 10 seconds after entering Race Screen before pressing Start.
