Faculty Development Program-2021

We are pleased to share the report of successful conduction of 5 Days FDP Program REACH Organized by CE Department


Day 2 :- 06.04.2021

Dr. Brajesh Kumar Dubey of IIT Kharagpur presented the topic "Plastic Waste Management" - Global and Indian Issues and Challenges.

In the 1st half, Mr Gabriel Vasanthakumaran of Lawrence and Mayo presented his topic Advancement in survey technology. Drones. Mr Vasanthakumaran has also given us the proposal for arranging a date for flying the Drone at our college campus-very interesting part.

In the 2nd half , Dr Sunil Kumar of NEERI presented his topic E-waste Management and Municipal Solid Waste Management in consecutive two slots. It was indeed a great pleasure to get the knowledge that the Tokio Olympic Gold Medal was made from E-Waste.


Day 3 :- 07.04.2021

In The 1st half, Dr M.Gangrekar of IIT Kharagpur presented his topic "Exploiting Bioelectrochemical Systems for wastewater treatment and value added product recovery."

In the 2nd half , Dr Arvind Jha of IIT Patna presented his topic "Susceptibility Behaviour of calcium based stabilization of soils - Influence of clay mineralogy and micro-structures".


Day 4 :- 08.04.2021

In the 1st half of the 4 th day FDP Program, Mr Sumantra Sengupta, Structural Consultant (Bridge and Infrastructure) presented his topic "Seismic and Wind Analysis Aspects on Bridge Design and Mistakes and Remedies in Construction ".

In the 2nd half session, Dr Arvind Jha of IIT Patna presented his topic "Application of waste material and industry byproduct in improving soil stabilisation".


Day 5 :- 09.04.2021

In the 1st half of the 5 th day FDP Program, Dr Sunil Kumar, Principal Scientist of CSIR-NEERI presented his topic "Construction and Demolition waste management ".

After the session of Dr Sunil Kumar in the first half, Mr Gabriel Vasanthakumaran, AGM(Lawrence and Mayo) presented his topic "Data processing and various software & Mapping" related to datalink software with field data collector like Total station, Drone, Scanner, DGPS and work processing software for processing data to get the output.

In the second half of the 5th day of FDP, a Valedictory session was held which created a milestone and memorable moment of the 5 days of FDP.


Principal of DSCSITSC Dr. Om Prakash Sharma welcomed the Guest Speakers Dr Sunil Kumar (Principal Scientist CSIR-NEERI), Dr M.Gangrekar (Professor, IIT-Kharagpur) , Dr. Brajesh Dubey (Associate Professor ,IIT, Kharagpur) , Dr. Arvind Jha (Assistant Professor IIT-Patna), Mr Gabriel Vasanthakumaran( Assistant General Manager, Lawrence & Mayo) and Mr. Sumantra Sengupta ( Structural Consultant , Bridge and Infrastructure) and presented them the digital mementos with love and affection from DSCSITSC(JIS Group).


After the mementos presented to guest speakers, all participation certificates have been presented to all faculty members ( participated from different zones of the country) by our invited guest speakers who delivered their lectures during the 5 days of FDP.

Faculty members expressed their gratitude getting the digital certificates of participation from eminent personalities from academics and industry.


It was really a nice platform where all faculty members across the country have joined with us to enrich their knowledge in various interesting topics with the updated technology related with various domains of Civil Engineering and their solutions.


We are overwhelmed with the feedback of 5- Days FDP from our valued faculty members participating from different regions of the country.

Faculty Development Program -2020

Department of Civil Engineering has organized a 5 Day FDP from 11.05.2020 to 15.05.2020. The 5th and last day of the Faculty Development Program ended with a Valedictory session organised by Dept of Civil Engineering has become a grand success.

In the 1st half of the last day session, Dr Subrata Hait , Associate Professor of IIT Patna presented his topic on "Metal Recycling from E-waste for Circular Economy". He had informed us that the Tokyo Olympic 2020 Gold Medal was made from 6.1 million used mobile phones using e waste material. The economy can be circulated extracting metal from E-Waste by different extracting processes was the key focus in his valuable presentation.

Mr Sumantra Sengupta, Chief Manager Design of Stup Consultant was the second speaker of the 1st half of last day's session where he presented on his topic "Design and construction of port structure – strengthening of existing structure for enabling it for higher capacity". Different photographs in phase wise construction with engineering detailing both in harbour and port really made the presentation very interesting to all the faculty members.

In the second half Dr Vaibhav Singhal, Assistant Professor of IIT Patna presented his topic on "Seismic Evaluation and Retrofitting of Reinforced Concrete Buildings " which was very informative in the current scenario for protecting measures of the building structures against earthquakes.

In the second half Dr Amarnath Hegde , Assistant Professor of IIT Patna as a second speaker in the second half session presented his topic on "Geosynthetics for vibration isolation." where he mostly highlighted how nowadays Geotextile materials are used for increasing the strength in the pavement.

Faculty Development Program-2018

Dr. Sudhir Chandra Sur Degree Engineering College organized a 2 Day FDP on “Total Station” on December 05 & 06, 2018 in the campus. The session was conducted by the chief guest, Mr. Gabriel Vasanthakumaran, who is the Regional Head of M/s Lawrence and Mayo India Pvt Ltd. The program was inaugurated by our Principal Dr. (Col). Probhas Bose, in presence of all the HoDs, Faculty members and TAs. The session was very informative which involved lots of hands-on training on the subject matter. Mr. Gabriel Vasanthakumaran also discussed about the latest advanced surveying technology of Global Positioning System (GPS) and Differential Global Positioning Systems (DGPS). All the participants were awarded with a “Certificate of Participation” The Faculty members and TAs were highly benefited by the program.
