Fall 2024 Welcome Event

We have just wrapped up the DSC Welcome Back Event of Fall 2024!

The DSC Welcome Back Event for Fall 2024 took place on October 24 at Kincaid Hall. This annual gathering celebrated the start of the 2024-2025 school year, marking a transition between outgoing and incoming graduate leadership teams, offering a special welcome to the new graduate students of 2024, and serving as a fun “reunion” for RAs who’ve been part of the DSC over the past few quarters. 

This event has always been a great chance for new grad students to connect with the different DSC teams and for everyone to catch up across areas. In recent years, we’ve made an extra effort to invite faculty to join in, giving them a chance to see what the DSC is all about and how our projects could tie into their courses. The current DSC team leaders are all heading into their fifth year, so it’s especially exciting to see fresh faces getting involved and bringing new ideas to the table. 

As part of the event, we shared a quick check-in survey to see what sparked interest among the new grad students. There was a lot of buzz around the Virtual Recruitment Team and the Climate Survey Team! These two teams do most of their work in Winter and Spring, but there’s always room for help on other teams during the Summer and Fall quarters too.
