The requirements for the Diversity Science Specialization has changed since we last published this article. Here are some of the main takeaways (additionally, these changes will be reflected in the Departmental website as soon as possible.
The specialization will no longer require a paper or a specific seminar course (previously the PSYCH557 social seminar, due to concerns of being unfair to students taking this seminar as an area requirement and to make the specialization comparable to the other specializations and minors.
You may be supervised by a faculty member, but this is not required; you will obtain signatures from the student DSC co-chairs after satisfying the seminar/talk requirement.
We will update the website with the courses that have previously been approved for students who have recently obtain this specialization.

The Climate Survey Team has published 2023's report back in May; here are some of the discussion and concerns that the DSC will explore further:
Historically the climate survey has only surveyed all staff, faculty, and graduate students of Psychology, but we discussed whether this should be expanded to include undergraduates (and possibilities of outreach to the undergraduate community of Psychology).
We discussed whether the survey should include a financial perspective and feedback/concerns/thoughts about pay or salary after the Union bargaining that resulted in a raise this year.

The DSC will be continuously updating the departmental webpages with DSC information.
We will be collecting DSC RA/staff bios and publishing them on the blog site as well as the departmental webpages.
We will publish the most up to the list of contacts for the different teams of the DSC.
Note that Departmental website for the DSC will only contain a short blurb of the team's activites. For more detailed updates on specific team projects, this will be shown on this Blog.

The DSC is also interested in updating graduate student biographies on the department directory to include more information about graduate student research areas. This is an ongoing project. We hope this will facilitate the communication between graduate and undergraduate students, particularly those interested in gaining research and lab experiences.
