There is a lot on the line in the upcoming presidential elections this November. Currently, our country is suffering from a health crisis that could have been prevented or managed, had the current government acted on the pandemic as early as other countries. It is unfortunate that it had to take a pandemic and the death of tens of thousands of Americans for people to clearly see that our current healthcare system is broken. This is why Dr. Matthew Boente MD implores everyone to visit the campaign website of democratic candidate former vice president Joe Biden in order to see his plans for healthcare. Here are a couple of reasons why we need Biden’s healthcare plan.

We need to insure every American in the country

The idea of universal healthcare has been brought up several times over the past few decades in legislation. For a lot of politicians, they believe that leaving health insurance to private companies is the right thing to do as this alleviates a lot of responsibilities from the government. Unfortunately, that model no longer works for the American people. It only makes money for corporate America. Healthcare should be a right, not a privilege.

The government needs to intervene with pharmaceutical companies

People are being driven to absurd lengths because of the prices of prescription drugs. People would cross borders just to buy the same drug for a cheaper price. Some people even go as far as rationing their existing medication to make them last longer. Dr. Matthew Boente MD says that the government should be able to negotiate with pharmaceutical companies to lower drug prices, a practice done by most other governments around the world.
