When creating a character in Sidhranor, one will have to add an alignment to their character. This alignment is not necessarily how a character “should'' be, but rather how you want to play them. Alignment in Sidhranor is heavily tied to the Od and can be associated with what might be called an aura, it is the emotional pull of the gravity of your character. Alignment is the emotion and semblance of the spirits of the Od that congregate like a field of energy around a person. They form a feedback loop with a person, if the spirits feel one way then the person might change to feel that way too; and likewise if a person feels another way they may change the Od around them to feel that way too. To some sensitive to the Od, this can be read by the color of your spirits and interpreted the following ways:
Order (White): A white aura is someone with faith in hierarchies and often believes that an ordered society is a peaceful society. They often believe in broad concepts like morality, ethics, truth, duty, discipline, structure, and conformity. While those with an aura of order are often associated with fairness, peace, and justice, they can just as easily be totalitarian, traditionalist, and inflexible.
Example characters in media: Judge Dredd, Captain Picard, Superman
Ambition (Red): Those with a red aura are often highly driven for personal success and freedom, they take immediate action and strive for personal gratification. Red is also the color of passion, chaos, and freedom. While someone with an aura of red Ambition might be an exceptional achiever striving to break harsh norms, they might just as easily be someone who would use everyone else as a ladder to achieve their ambitions.
Example characters in media: Griffith, Magneto, Naruto, Luffy, Azula,
Survival (Yellow): One with a yellow Aura is a person who has had to struggle to live, often having to resort to extreme ruthlessness to survive or protect others. A yellow survival aura usually means the person has no greater plan then to survive by the end of the day. A person with a yellow Survival aura may be a cutthroat coward, or a brave individual that protects. They may have deep compassion or ruthlessness, but what sets them apart is that at the end of the day, their only concern is a concern with the safety of themselves and others.
Example characters in media: Guts, Constantine, Trevor Belmont, Catwoman, Han Solo,
Life (Green): One with a green aura is someone who has made peace with their place in the universe and is not seeking to drastically change anything (or is seeking to prevent things from changing drastically). As such, Green is the color of nature and interdependence, and usually values the overall health of something greater than themselves in the form of a community, an ecosystem, a cosmos, or an ideal. A person with a green Life aura may be a pacifist who wants to live in harmony with all things, someone or someone incredibly regressive and close minded.
Example characters in media: Yoda, Ulfric Stormcloak, Serpico, Uncle Iroh
Discovery(Blue): A person with a blue aura of Discovery is someone that values change and knowledge. They are driven to pursue change in the world, often in pursuit of personal ideals and find tradition stifling. This might manifest as a desire to explore, learn, or self reflect. For Blue, life is constant discovery as one keeps seeking to better themselves or the world and make dreams a reality. As such, Blue is the color most interested in technology and wants the latest and greatest version of it. A person with a blue aura of Discovery may be a curious scholar exploring to find hidden wisdom, or a misguided despot pushing towards harmful ideals.
Example characters in media: Batman, Iron Man, Aang, Princess Leia, Indiana Jones
Ruin (Black): A person with a black aura of Ruin is someone motivated by self destruction and violent goals, often in the form of revenge or retaliation. Even a person with good intent can find themselves with a black aura if they set themselves on the wrong road, for when you set out on a mission of revenge; you dig your own grave. A person with a black aura might also be incredibly destructive to others and unable to really participate in society. Regardless, a person with a Black aura probably doesn’t care much for their own life if it nets them their goal.
Example characters in media: Kill Bill, John Wick, Arya Stark, Billy Butcher, Captain Hook, Guts the Black Swordsman, Killmonger, Khan,
Within Sidhranor, there exists a commonality among all who share an alignment aura. This commonality is a shared secretive language that exists as a result of the Od spirits that form a person’s aura. Any creature can communicate through the Od spirits to another creature that shares their Aura much like a language, usually communicating simple feelings, intentions, or ideas in a fundamental way through subtle body language, limited vocabulary ,and expressions.
It is speculated that the function of this is through a creature’s Heraminth. A name for a type of Od spirit that all creatures have as part of their aura. Sages and Mages have long tried to divine their appearance and nature through the use of Spells and Experiments, but they remain elusive.
Some of those same Sages & Mages believe that the very act of seeking out your own Heraminth leaves that space on your shoulder vacant as it flees. Ripe for perching by another, perhaps less compatible Heraminth, so arcane research is a little spotty in this area of course. Clerics have a little bit better luck with it, they swear they can see each other's Heraminthae clear as day and have numerous rituals and gestures to keep them homed on the shoulders of the faithful and promote good spiritual health.
