Not Just "Pockets of Wow": Getting All Teachers on Board with Technology

Every district has teachers who use technology in exciting ways - pockets of wow! But how do we get all teachers using technology at increasingly higher levels of sophistication. Find out how SAMR, Danielson's Framework, and your learning management system can provide a clear path to second order change in the classroom using technology. And what should teachers then expect schools to provide to make sure they can be successful?

ISTE Standards for Teachers 1: Design and develop digital age learning experiences and assessments is supported by showing how teachers can use an LMS in a variety of ways that fit all levels of the SAMR model.

Introduction:

Start with why should all teachers be able to use technology for a variety of purposes? How can principals and other school leaders increase the capacity of all teachers in technology use? How can a 1:1 program have an intended and lasting impact?

Questions:

What foundational pieces must school districts have in place before expecting all teachers use technology?

What should be the minimum expectations we have of all teachers when using technology? How can we increase those expectations?

How can technology enable transformative learning in all classrooms?

Activities:

Identifying additional uses of an LMS, ranking uses with SAMR model, and writing "look fors" in the Danielson Framework.
