PEDAGOGICAL METHODS
- Flipped Classroom: Students will take notes on divisibility rules as homework the previous day.
- Differentiated Instruction: Students work at their own pace on the homework. Modifications of homework will be made for students without computer nor internet at home (printed copy of PPT slides).
- Frontloading on divisibility rules that will be used to find factors and prime factors in the following lessons.
- Teacher will review divisibility rules in class and review using examples.
COMMON CORE STATE STANDARDS
- 6.NS.B.2: Fluently divide multi-digit numbers using the standard algorithm.
STANDARDS OF MATHEMATICAL PRACTICES
- MP 1: Make sense of problems and persevere in solving them.
- MP 2: Reason abstractly and quantitatively.
- MP 3: Construct viable arguments and critique the reasoning of others.
- MP 7: Look for and make use of structure.
SWBAT
- Students will access prior knowledge of multiplication and division to further expand their acquisition of divisibility rules.
- Students will collaborate with each other on explaining divisibility rules and finding numbers that follow those rules.
- Students will color in number charts for each divisibility rule.
