PEDAGOGICAL METHODS
- Flipped Classroom: Students will take notes on Least Common Multiple (LCM) as homework the day before the lesson in class.
- Differentiated Instruction: Students work at their own pace on the homework. Modifications of homework will be made for students without computer nor internet at home (printed copy of PPT slides).
- Teacher will review notes and clarify questions for students.
- Teacher will listen to student discussions within their groups.
COMMON CORE STATE STANDARDS
- 6.NS.B.4: Find the greatest common factor of two whole numbers less than or equal to 100 and the least common multiple of two whole numbers less than or equal to 12. Use the distributive property to express a sum of two whole numbers 1-100 with a common factor as a multiple of a sum of two whole numbers with no common factor.
STANDARDS OF MATHEMATICAL PRACTICES
- MP 4: Model with mathematics.
- MP 5: Use appropriate tools strategically.
- MP 6: Attend to precision.
- MP 8: Look for and express regularity in repeated reasoning.
SWBAT
- Students will access prior knowledge of prime factorization and using the factor tree or ladder method to solve for LCM.
- Students collaborate on assignment and explain to each other the steps needed to evaluate math problems.
