PEDAGOGICAL METHODS
- Traditional setting where the teacher instructs the class on Distributive Property.
- Students will have Chromebook laptops on their desks with the notes to go along with the teacher's instructions.
- Differentiated Instruction: Students may go ahead of teacher's pace of lesson to write down notes. Students will be given additional time to finish writing down notes.
- Teacher will address important parts of the lesson to the entire class.
COMMON CORE STATE STANDARDS
- 6.NS.B.4: Find the greatest common factor of two whole numbers less than or equal to 100 and the least common multiple of two whole numbers less than or equal to 12. Use the distributive property to express a sum of two whole numbers 1-100 with a common factor as a multiple of a sum of two whole numbers with no common factor.
STANDARDS OF MATHEMATICAL PRACTICES
- MP 4: Model with mathematics.
- MP 5: Use appropriate tools strategically.
- MP 6: Attend to precision.
- MP 8: Look for and express regularity in repeated reasoning.
SWBAT
- Students will access prior knowledge of divisibility rules, prime factorization, GCF, and order of operations to solve algebraic and numerical expressions using distributive property.
- Students collaborate with each other on evaluating example problems during note taking in class.
