DLG is accepting applications for digitization projects from Georgia cultural heritage institutions. Up to $7500 per project in DLG services will be awarded for digitization, metadata creation, and online access and preservation of files. Applicants must be organizations. Project metadata will be included in the DLG website, EBSCO Discovery Services, and the Digital Public Library of America (DPLA). Projects can include textual and graphic materials however newspapers and A/V materials are not accepted this year. The DLG advisory committee will determine awards.
Applicants must attend one of the April information sessions before submitting their application. You will be ineligible to apply if you do not attend a session. Dates are listed below.
Projects from institutions: 1) that have not received subgrant-funded DLG digitization services in the past five years and 2) where all project partners have reviewed and agreed to sign the MOU will be given top consideration
Additional evaluation criteria include:
Completeness of the application and how well each of the questions is addressed
The potential for the project to impact the organization and their community including:
Future programming around the digitized collection
Who would would use the collection and how
Potential for broadening of your organization’s community
How this project supports your organization’s mission and why this award is necessary for the digitization of materials (capacity, condition, etc.)
Is the proposed plan of work achievable with the resources you currently have?
Project materials must have clear rights statements and documentation. Any metadata created will be shared under a Creative Commons License Public Domain License (CC0), through the DLG's portal, EBSCO Discovery Services, and the DPLA.

Download, complete, and submit all application materials to our proposal submission form by July 31, 2025:
A budget using the budget spreadsheet that includes digitization, storage, and metadata costs;
One letter of support from a user, researcher, or someone else who can speak to the historic value of the collection and potential use by multiple audiences; and
Three pictures of selected content

First review by DLG Advisory Subgrant Subcommittee, August 1 - August 13
Final review by full DLG Advisory Committee, August 14 - August 19
Final decision by DLG Advisory Committee, August 20
