Phoenix-kin | Soul

Genetic Engineering Template | Spiritual Template

Long ago the Entity responsible for the multiverse foresaw a great disaster, what was seen is unknown but it was severe enough that it split itself into the Great Light and Profound Darkness. They fought and the Light won in a manner of speaking but to prevent it's other half from succeeding at it's goal it decided to create the multiverse and seed three worlds with life. It sacrificing itself to do such a feat in the process. Its body became the various dimensions and universes that made up its multiversal creation and its mind left behind echoes on worlds like Rykros and the 'worlds of whispers.' Its spiritual energy sometimes condensed in some individuals giving them unusual abilities and in one entity as a whole in particular - the Rappy.

What is known about the cute birdlike creatures are that they are multi-dimensional and end up in all sorts of places. While generally non-hostile they have been shown to be quite capable at using Fire and advanced Fire elements with ease when induced into a pyromantic rage.

Contrary to popular belief the Rappy is not an indestructible creature that plays dead and then escapes when one isn't looking. Its a regenerating creature though unlike other races, its regeneration is stealth-based.

"So you mean to tell me the Phoenix of ancient legend; all that fiery death and rebirth was just an angry Rappy on a power trip?"

While those genetically modified with Rappy DNA [Phoenix-Kin] and those who naturally possess Phoenix-Soul have limits to regeneration, the Rappy themselves seem unrestricted in this feat. The reason why is currently unknown.

  • Phoenix kin gain the Mycelial sub-type along with any other types they already possess.

Phoenix-kin's Pryomantic Rage:

It is well known that when angered beyond compare a Rappy will resort to using Advanced fire magics, a Phoenix-Kin is no different, and even though their fire abilities are far weaker then a normal rappy perhaps they are a tad more violent with it. A Phoenix-Kin will appear to undergo a minor transformation which is triggered by an extended duration in combat which may include a fiery aura and or glowing red eyes.

The Phoenix-Kin goes into a Pyromanic Rage, He temporarily gains a +4 bonus to Intelligence, a +4 bonus to Constitution, a +4 Rage bonus on Control and Psionic Skills. They also gains the effects of the Die Hard feat, but he takes a –2 penalty to Defense. The increase in Constitution increases the Phoenix-Kin's hit points by 2 points per level, but these hit points go away at the end of Pyromanic Rage when his Constitution score drops back to normal. Enraged Phoenix-Kin are capable of using one Fire[or adv fire] Energy blast for 1d8+3 damage in place of it's other attacks (1 per every round) that is fired from a limb or orally. This form lasts for 3 + their newly improved Constitution modifier rounds, During this time the Phoenix-Kin can determine proper targets, but will likely stratagem very poorly, they are however still capable of performing complex magical attacks as long as its Fire based, with proper Spell rage feats they can use elements outside of fire, transforming this ability into more of a SpellRage.

Pyromanic Rage becomes available after so many Phonons have been absorbed, they are absorbed when the Rapparu deals or is dealt damage.

The points required to Pyromanic Rage is Character level x10. The bar progression resets after resting: so if it was nearly charged and you purposely rest or fall asleep due to exhaustion it will reset, Magical sleep effects do not count.

Phoenix-Kin have the Regeneration mechanic similar to Timelords however it is restricted to three uses similar to Kitsune.

Choose One - Stealth Regeneration or Burrow Speed

Burrow: If the base creature is large or smaller, then it gains a burrow speed: 5ft(Large) 10ft(medium) 15ft(small) or +5 if the creature already has a burrow speed.

Stealth Regeneration - Your regeneration has no telltale signs of occurring, making surprise attacks or escapes all the easier.

Cosmetic - Choose one:

  • Unchanging color - Hair and eye colors don't change but they have the potential to be outside human norms like the palmans.

  • Festive Phoenix - Rappies and those with strong connections with the spiritual energies leftover from the great light tend to fall under the sway of festive events. Their hair and eyecolors may naturally shift hues in response to a local holiday.

Cosmetic Defect: Obsessive Costume Disorder:

Like Rappies, Phoenix-kin suffer from the compulsion to wear costumes during holidays [When applicable] and will even put them on without even noticing that they have done so.
