Lupine

Physiology

Like Humans, kitsune and other races the Lupine are a mammalian species. They resemble Earth wolves, are bipedal, have four limbs, two eyes, two large ears and fur covering their bodies. Lupine, while possessing sharp teeth and lethal claws, are only slightly stronger than most races and have always relied more on sheer numbers and teamwork in a fight than on raw power.

Lupines are biped humanoids, and are covered totally by fur. They generally have a wide variety of fur colors, the most common being gray, black, white, and shades of brown. Eye color is more narrowed, consisting of yellow, green, blue or black.

The Lupine have a love of the wilds unsurpassed by any other race, and enjoy nothing more than crisp night in a forest, while the snow is falling, this is not to say they don't have an interest in technology or civilization, but just a higher connection with nature. They are usually good tempered, but take insults very personally, and have a short temper.

Ancient Lupine hunted in roaming packs, so the natural Lupine instinct is to consume as much food as possible when available.

This means Lupine consume an inordinate amount of food for their size. Lupine are not particularly wise for a starfaring species, and are often outmaneuvered by other races.

Culture

Lupine are highly social creatures, and their society is centered around the pack mentality and an individual's place within it. Lupine have a long standing history of military conflict, which includes a strong naval tradition. Lupine shipwrights and engineers are of above average competence, producing (and repairing) quality parts which rarely malfunction, but their people negate much of this this by being unproductive in other fields. Lupine see their destiny as lying among the stars, and will not tolerate anything preventing them from achieving their goals.
