The Dingle School Site Council is separate from the Dingle Community PTA. This page is a helpful tool for current and future council members.
Dingle Community PTA also offers this information to help develop future council leaders.
Per the WJUSD website on School Site Councils, "California Education Code 52852 requires that a school site council shall be established at each school that participates in Title I or LCFF supplemental/concentration grant funding." The SSC's primary purpose is to ensure Dingle's achieving its SPSA goals, including annually reviewing and approving Dingle's SPSA. The SPSA document format is designed outside of Dingle.
Family Engagement Policy (review and approve)
School Parent Compact (review and approve)
School Safety Plan (review and approve)
SPSA (review and approve)
To accomplish the above, especially the SPSA, the School Site Council also reviews assessment results (i-Ready, etc.) and needs assessment inputs from stakeholders.
The School Site Council design and operations is state mandated (https://www.cde.ca.gov/fg/aa/co/ssc.asp) and it follows Robert's Rules of Order. Therefore, the greatest influence individuals have is on the documents Dingle's SSC produces (listed above) and how it conducts oversight of the SPSA. Input from non-council members is usually given as public comments during council meetings and by participating in subcommittees (if applicable). Dingle Community PTA also launched a project to make academic oversight easier for parents to understand. Look for council dates and times in Dingle's Principal newsletter or contact Dingle's Principal for assistance.
Principal predominantly organizes the SSC (drafts agenda, coordinates with district on timeline, prepares SPSA, reports on academics, etc.)
Chair facilitates the meeting (call to order, advances through agenda, calls motions, adjourns the meeting)
Secretary takes roll and minutes
(Optional) Committee Members report on their areas (such as LCAP)
