Text Of The Artwork Series:
Isabet-i Ayn 1 & 2 & 3 Since its existence, humanity has tried to explain the events that it cannot interpret, as it has used science to make sense of life, by associating it with supernatural forces and beliefs. In every geography, protective forms, which some call real and some call superstitions have emerged that trigger the individual’s self-preservation and protection instinct. One of these beliefs is the amulets that represent the relationship between our inner world and the act of looking. The talisman forms that emerged from the eye form were found in many cultures, as well as in Anatolian geography and folk language. The eye forms, which emerged with the principle of timelessness and the characteristics of being human were combined with the forms and expressions belonging to Anatolian geography. Symbolic expressions that exist in our cultural codes but have faded in our minds over the course of time are discussed through contemporary amulet forms, as they can bridge the gap between the past and the present. Underglaze tile techniques/styles that represent the past, acts of seeing/remembering that represent the present and Anatolian beliefs that preserve their continuity have come together so that we can “look” again at the values we have forgotten.
