As a product of cultural exchanges along the Silk Road, blue and white porcelain has established a “friendship” bond that has lasted from ancient times to the present. Because of this bond, Iznik blue and white porcelain and Jingdezhen blue and white porcelain are like siblings living in two different regions. The form in the work was inspired by a teardrop vase. The teardrop vase, which is frequently encountered in Anatolian geography, is a small and meaningful ceramic or glass vessel used to collect tears, symbolizing deep emotions such as love, longing and mourning. The purpose of this vase, which especially helps to carry emotional meanings, carries the deep emotional heritage between the two countries. The iconic blue and white patterns of China and Turkey are used together on the vase.
