Once you've completed your induction and booked a laser cutter on Connect2, follow the below instructions to cut/engrave your piece.
Log in to the PC next to the laser cutter you've booked, and open Ruby from the desktop
2. Log into Ruby using the PC specific login details (found by each PC)
3. Switch on the Laser Cutter and allow it to do it's homing checks (it'll lower the cutting bed and move the laser to the top left). Wait for the beep to let you know the machine is ready.
4. Load your material into the laser cutter, and focus the laser with the orange/blue tool.
5. Open your file in Ruby.
6. Set cut lines to red and hairline thickness, and any engrave lines/areas to >0.25mm thickess and black.
7. Check the laser is connected.
8. Click 'Create Job' to move from the design window to the layout window.
9. Check that your design is clearly visible and not greyed out. If lines aren't showing properly, go back and check your colours are correct.
10. Select your material from the list of favourites.
13. Turn on the extraction using the green button.
14. You can move the position of the laser and it will show where it is on Job Control. Then you can snap your job to the laser to start it in a specific area of your material (good for if you're using scrap pieces).
15. Make sure the lid of the laser is closed, and click 'push to laser' or 'queue'.
16. Stay with your job until it has finished cutting. Do not leave the machine unattended whilst in operation.
17. Once the machine beeps, your job is finished and you can take it out of the machine.
