3D Printing is an additive manufacturing process, whereby material is added layer by layer to create the final shape. We have a range of 3D printing technologies which can be used to suit your needs.
Unsure about which is right for your project? Have a look at our Which Printer Should I Use? page, or dive into more information on each of the technologies pages. You can also always come and have a chat with the technicians and we can advise which would be best suited to your needs.

In both Sheaf and HPO, the Ultimakers can be booked via Connect2, after completing the Ultimaker Induction.
The rest of the 3D printers are technician driven, please contact us to get things printed on these machines.
The amount of time your print will take is dependant on the size of your part(s) and the print settings and machine technology you choose.
If your Ultimaker job is showing more than 24 hours to print, please let a technician know before beginning your print, as you may impact someone else's booking.
In busy periods, you will be told an approximate timeframe for your prints. You will only be in the print queue once we have received your files, as we work on a first come first served basis, so send us files as soon as possible to ensure you meet your deadline. We support a range of courses and a huge amount of students so please be patient with us during busy times!
All the software allows us to see how much material you will be using, and we will always provide a costing before printing any of your files. We only charge for the printers material cost, please speak to a member of the Digital Workshops team for individual machine prices.
