One of the researchers giving a lecture on his research in physics and mechanical functions.
The research seminars were another one of the useful resources that the Summer Bridge Program offered. The main one that stuck out to me was the research topic on physics. It discussed mechanical tearing, and how even like imperfections at the atomic level could affect the entire metal's strength. It basically said that the metal is only as strong as the weakest link. He also taught us about how machines work, and other general things about the research he and his team conducted.
Although I won't be pursuing this kind of research, being able to see the research process, and what it's like to be on a research is really useful knowledge. Also, these seminars were still useful to me, as they opened up many internship opportunities. Since I met with him and the other researchers who gave seminars, I now am informed about the research internships that they are offering. Opportunites such as these will make me a strong and viable candidate for many of the universities or even medical schools that I apply to.
