Hello! My name is Dhakir Haskins, and I’m a senior at Cumberland International Early College High School (CIECHS), and an S8 scholarship recipient at Fayetteville State University (UNCFSU). I was born in Virginia, but I’ve spent nearly my whole life being raised by my grandparents in Fayetteville, North Carolina.
I have a passion for fitness, creative expression, and self-improvement — and more than anything, I love being me.
Now, you might be wondering why I’d say that here. Well, I was once asked: “If you had one sentence to describe yourself, what would it be?” The only thing I could think of was: I love being me.
I say that because I’ve lived a life I can truly be proud of — not perfect, but mine. Everything I’ve done, learned, and overcome has helped me grow into someone I genuinely like and respect. That’s something not everyone can say, and I hold that close.
Outside of school, I spend most of my time doing calisthenics, going to the gym, listening to music, and playing games. I’m also looking forward to running track soon — staying active helps me stay focused and grounded.
Academically, my biggest goal right now is to graduate with a straight-A average and get accepted into medical school with as little debt as possible. I plan to become an anesthesiologist — a career that combines my interest in science with my desire to help people in high-stakes, high-focus situations. I know the path won’t be easy, but I’m ready for the challenge.
