Saskia Jongma

Saskia has served as a deputy director Sustainable Economic Development Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs since March 2018. She became deputy director after an almost 25-year-long career at the Dutch central government.

Ms. Jongma went to University in Amsterdam. After finishing her master in Economics, she started at the Ministry of Economic Affairs, where she worked for almost ten years in the areas of sustainability, business, innovation and international trade.

Her next step, in 2004, took her to the Dutch Enterprise Agency, as unit manager project- and product development. After five years she became director International Cooperation of the Dutch Enterprise Agency, responsible for the development and execution of Development Cooperation Programmes.

After that, she became director of Solidaridad-Netherlands, a Dutch NGO striving for sustainable production of commodities (coffee, tea, palm oil, cocoa, textiles etc.). Her next step, four years ago, brought her to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where she became programme manager Economic Diplomacy.
