As an alchemist, you have the ability to recharge player-crafted items that contain imbued charges. This process is convenient as it doesn’t require the use of an alchemy table or any tools, meaning you can perform it anywhere, at any time. However, recharging an item requires a skill check against your alchemy level. If your skill isn’t high enough, you’ll receive a message indicating that you’re unable to recharge the item. To recharge all charge types, including those at level 49, you must have an alchemy skill level of at least 886.

Special distills are used for recharging, each corresponding to a specific material level. The distill you need depends on the metal type used in the tincture’s creation, rather than the metal of the item it’s imbued into.
You can determine the correct distill to use by delving into the item’s details and comparing the effect data with the effect listings in the Recipes section of this site. This step is crucial because using a higher-level distill than necessary will still recharge the item but will cost more than required. For example, a tincture made with Alloy and imbued into a Fine Alloy dagger would only require a Liquid Alloy Renewal, not a Liquid Fine Alloy Renewal.

You use these renewals similar to how you would imbue gems: Open the craft window, place the renewal, click 'Combine", and click "Accept".
Unlike NPC rechargers, who charge based on the number of charges being restored, a single distill will fully recharge an item, regardless of how many charges were used.
When recharging, make sure to unstack the renewal items in your inventory, as using a stacked item will consume the entire stack.
Alchemists can only recharge player-made items. They cannot recharge dropped or quested items with charges. Similarly, NPC rechargers can only recharge dropped or quested items and cannot recharge player-made items.
