The Mary Louise Van Winkle Teaching and Learning Center (TLC) provides pathways to institutional excellence by investing in the professional skills, academic knowledge, and cultural proficiency of all DCC faculty and staff. By providing professional development and training opportunities that are designed to enhance their knowledge, skills, and competencies, the TLC supports, promotes, and enhances inclusive teaching and effective practices to support student learning and success.

In support of this mission, the TLC provides consultation, resources, and programs to do the following:
Provide employees with professional development and training opportunities that are designed to enhance their knowledge, skills, and competencies
Promote research-based best teaching practices; support the scholarship of teaching and learning
Provide direct support to instructors in course planning and pedagogical development
Assist academic programs in curriculum development and improvement
Offer activities aimed at supporting excellence in teaching including a wide range of pedagogical topics such as integrative learning, inquiry learning, learning communities, effective uses of digital technologies, critical literacies, the scholarship of teaching and learning, and holistic assessment.
