Bioinformatics is conceptualizing biology in terms of molecules (in the sense of physical chemistry) and applying & "informatics techniques" (derived from disciplines such as applied maths, computer science and statistics) to understand and organize the information associated with these molecules, on a large scale. In DBT@MIET, we offer several modules of training as well as dissertation/project in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology. The duration of the programs offered for training ranges from 6 to 30 days and for project ranges from 3-6 months. Modules are selected by the students on their choice.

Ashish Katyal is working as Assistant professor in Department of Biotechnology of MIET. He obtained his M.Tech Degree in the field of Bioinformatics from Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya, Indore after getting degree in B.Tech. (Biotechnology) from Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra. He has qualified GATE two times and has nearly 6 years of experience in teaching and research. He is associated witd MIET since 2011 and has served various responsibilities. Presently, he is also looking after Boys Hostel as a Warden. His area of expertise is computational biology, phylogenetic analysis, bioelectronics and biological statistics. He has written number of papers in interdisciplinary research in different journals.
