BRATISLAVA

Bratislava is the capital of the Slovak Republic - it is a city with a long history dating back to pre-Roman times. It was an important city of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy, known as Pressburg or Pozsony. For more than two centuries, it was the coronation city and the seat of the Hungarian Parliament. It is currently the center of the most dynamically developing region of Central Europe today. Bratislava often referred to as a beauty on the Danube, due to its location on the river and at the foot of the Little Carpathians. Bratislava currently has about 450,000 inhabitants and is one of the youngest capitals in the world. It is located in south western Slovakia, on the border with Austria and Hungary. It is therefore characteristic that it is open to Europe and the world, as evidenced by the increasing number of foreign visitors from various countries. They attracted by the cosiness of the relatively small historical core of the city and the pulsating social life spilling over into new business and cultural parts.
