When you enter Magic Kingdom’s Fantasyland, you may feel a lighthearted sense of wonder and whimsy. After all, Fantasyland is the place where the hero always wins, the world is bright and colorful, and princesses and magic preside over all things beautiful. Or at least, that’s how it was once. For now, the bright and colorful land of magic and whimsy has been tainted and tarnished by a malevolent presence overlooking the kingdom of magic.
Thousands of years ago, an ancient king, cruel and evil, named Arawan, reigned down on his subjects with an iron fist. Even the Gods feared the king, so, upon his death, his soul was trapped within a magical black cauldron. When a mysterious lich, known as The Horned King, attempted to harness the power of The Black Cauldron to raise an army of the dead and rule over the world of the living, he was foiled by a young hero known as Taran and his friends, his soul sucked into the black cauldron for all eternity. Or so the story goes. However, the ancient castle still stands on the outskirts of Fantasyland, waiting for someone to retrieve the cauldron once again.
Guests walking through Fantasyland will notice a towering castle standing where once stood the Tomorrowland Speedway. The decrepit castle looms eerily over a forest of dead and dying trees and beckons adventurers and warriors forwards, through its gates, to uncover the dangers and mysteries that lurk within. But beware, the curse of the Black Cauldron and King Arawan are still said to haunt this decrepit castle.
