Welcome to Scouting!!
Participating in Cub Scouts is fun and rewarding. It provides opportunities to learn new skills, get exposed to supporting our community all while having fun with
After you are registered with the pack (see how to sign up), here are the key steps to follow to have a great scouting year.
Get a uniform: Purchase a class A Uniform Shirt and Belt from a scout store. See Uniform Requirements for a list of what scout families need to purchase and what is provided by the pack. The Stafford Scout Shop is the closest to our Pack and their staff can help with any questions you have. Scout Patches, Neckerchief and slide will be provided during a Pack Meeting.
Get familiar with Scout Book: Scout Book is an online resource that allows you to see all of your Scouts activities for both the Pack and Den, as well as track your scouts progress toward rank advancement. The Pack will use the email linked to your scouts Scout Book Account to manage communications throughout the year. Review this helpful guide on how to use Scout Book
Review the Pack Calendar of Event: Review the Event Calendar on this website to learn about all of the events we have planned. Most activities, like Pack and Den meetings, just involve showing up, however, when events do require signup, payment or other pre-work, our Event Calendar provides links to make it all easy.
Participate in Orientation & Bobcat Rodeo: The first month of the Scouting year will include a New Parent Orientation and Bobcat Rodeo, which is for new Cub Scouts of All ages. Parents and Scouts will split into 2 groups, with the Parents getting some helpful information about what to expect for the year and get a chance to ask questions. The Scouts will get familiar with the basic Scout tenants such as the Scout Law, the Scout Oath, Handshake and Salute. See the Event Calendar for details on when and where this will be.
Signup to Help! Adult volunteers are the MOST important part of scouting and the only way to provide our scouts with a fun and enriching experience. Volunteering can be as simple as helping clean up after an event or leading a game to being a Den Leader or on the Pack Committee. There are opportunities to fit any level of commitment and background. Follow this link to Volunteer!
Attend Pack Meetings: Pack meetings are held on the 3rd Tuesday of the Month @ Commonwealth Elementary from 6:30-8pm. Pack meetings include some scout ceremonies, fun activities as well as Den breakouts. See our Event Calendarfor details.
Attend Den Meetings: In addition to monthly pack meetings, each age-specific Den will meet once a month to work on scouting requirements. These can range from playing games, to making crafts or going on a hike. Each Den manages their own calendar to work best for their families. Den Leaders will reach out to coordinate Den activities with you. You can also see your Den Meetings on the Calendar in Scout Book.
