During Clayton Junior College's founding years, there was no Dramatic Arts or Theatre curriculum. Many Theatre productions were organized by extracurricular student organizations and community groups. Clayton Junior College served as a performance venue for many of the early productions. The college became popular amongst the neighboring communities.

The Speech/Drama program was introduced in the 80's under the Department of Humanities. This program focused heavily on speech while offering two dramatic arts focused courses. By the 90's however, the Drama program evolved and offered a more Drama focused curriculum.

In the new millennium the Drama program was renamed to the Theatre program. It continued to grow in it's dedication to Theatrical Production.
