In it's first year, students of Clayton Junior Community College developed four organizations dedicated to the Performing Arts. Three were musically focused; the Clayton Chamber Choir, the Community Chorus, and the Renaissance Consort. The fourth, the Dramatics, was based in the dramatic arts.

Over the years these organizations evolved and led many of the productions at CJC and in the neighboring Morrow community. As host to many of the stage productions, Clayton Junior College collaborated with community organizations and became a popular entertainment option. These productions often included CJC students, faculty and community members.

The Clayton Community Chorus was a larger group of college students and community members who quarterly performed major choral works. The group was sponsored by the Office of Community Services.

The Clayton Chamber Choir was an auditioned group of approximately 20 students, that held performances on and off campus.

The Renaissance Consort was a select group of woodwind instrumentalists. An image of former Consort member, John Gore (L), who received a music scholarship.

The Dramatics were composed of CJC students and faculty members. They staged readings of historic plays such as the Greek tragedy Antigone, Edward Albee's Zoo and faculty written plays. Many of the earlier plays were produced under the Department of Humanities.
