Description of the topic: During this assingment I had to find an technology that is starting to become more prevenlent in today's society. After I had chose a topic i needed to make a presentaion about what it was, advantages/ disadvantages, and risks that come with this new technology. Then i had to record myself presenting it and update my eportfolio.
My topic was brain- computer interfaces. I chose this topic because I find it very intresting that years ago we thought there would be flying cars, but instead now we have teh ability to control things like prosthetics and computers with out minds and thought.
One intresting thing I learned: There were many intresting things that I learned during this rpoject, one of which would be when I learned that people were concerned about the privacy risks and that since it is still new that soemone can actually hack in ot your brain and take control of you.
Lesson(s) Learned: Similar to the partner project, I learned all the in's and out's of powerpoint. Another thing that I learned would be how our society is advancing so much in such a short amount of time. Like I had referenced earlier about the flying cars, I bet that people 80 years ago didn't think that we would be able to control computers with out minds or even be able to have immersive gaming through technology like BCIs. Although, I do believe that it is kind of sad, that with all of this advancment I feel that it is starting to make us lazy. Although it helps people a lot with their disabilites, for normal people it can make them lazy. For example, with the smart home potetnial. We may soon have the ability to turn off lights with out heads, rather than just getting up and walking there. When I was younger I watched the movie Wallie and with every technological advancement I believe we are one step closer to the fat people on flying chairs, depedndant upon technology.
