Unit 5

Description of the Project: In this project I had to choose a country that I was intrested in to research. I had to make a research report while looking in to things like their population, climate and most importantly thier technological advancements. I had to find a partner on the dicussion board that I had never met in person. After I found a partner we needed to collaborate to make a powerpoint comparing and contrasting our countries. 

One interesting fact that I learned about each location: There were two interesting facts about El Salvador that I wanted to include. The first would be that since their land is filled with many active and inactive volcanoes, they are called la tierra de volcanes. This translates to the land of volcanoes. I also didn't realize that bitcoin was so important in their country. They were the first country to accept bitcoin as a legal tender in 2021. An interesting fact the I learned about the Dominican Republic was that they have a 2030 plan and that is to get high-speed 5G into every corner of the island.

Lessons Learned: What did I learn while doing this project? Well, probably first that it isn't that scary to reach out to people you haven't met before on campus. Working as a group can often be refreshing in an online class, I believe that sometimes we often forget about human interactions when we are drowned in an online class. Another thing that I relearned and was able to finally apply, was using the built-in word citation features. It was very convenient and made my life far easier in regard to citations. Although I thought I knew a lot on El Salvador already, there were still some interesting discoveries that I had while researching. I didn't know that Bitcoin was THAT big of a deal for them. I also didn't know that there was an indigenous language called Nawat spoken there. Overall, it was a very amusing activity and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
