Quarter 3 Awards

What is your class working on in Quarter 4?

AP English- Students will continue their multi-genre research into the Shakespeare play of their choice. In addition, they will be practicing reading and responding to the prose fiction section (Free Response Question 2) for the truncated version of the AP Exam which will happen online May 13 at 1 pm.

English- Seniors will be reflecting on their time at Cristo Rey by reading mentor texts and creating multiple pieces of their own creativity and thinking.

AP Calc- We will be reviewing for the modified AP Exam which will take place on May 12 at 1PM central time. Students will complete work by AP Classroom as well as email submissions. After the AP Exam, students will have the option to work on Calc 2 topics, or Accuplacer Topics in a daily practice format.

Pre Calc- Students will be finishing up rational equations and then working on a statistics unit for the rest of the year.

AP Government- Students will finish Unit 5 with a standard assessment in the next two weeks. Then students will review Units 1-3 in preparation for the AP Exam. After the exam, students will finish the year with a unit on personal finance.

Biology- Students will complete practice on Genetics and produce a project on a specific trait or disease, the entire project will be a total of 3 standards.

Religion- Students will be exploring Judaism and Islam in order to develop a better understanding of their beliefs. Students will be asked to explain what they learned at the end of each unit in essay format.

Economics- Finishing up macroeconomics unit with an assessment on one standard. Students are expected to view video lectures and complete practice quizzes on Schoology. After the test, students will finish the year with a unit on personal finance.

AP Computer Science- The college board has cancelled the AP test this year, meaning that students' AP scores will come entirely from their performance tasks (projects). Since there is no longer a requirement of test prep, we will be finishing out the original curriculum and the create task by the new deadline of May 26th.

Music- We will be doing a “musical covers” unit where the Seniors will explore and review covers of songs against the originals. This will result in their final blog posting for 2 Standards. For their daily check-ins and engagement, we will be doing music history by the decades beginning with the 1950’s-2010’s.

Ethnic Studies- We are moving full speed ahead on our semester-long research project. Students may always continue doing individual research and work on their final project. We'll also continue with 1-2 more units to end the school year.

Art- Students will continue to learn the elements and principles of art and design through projects due every two or three weeks. They will continue to upload an image of their progress every other class day to get teacher feedback.

AP Spanish Lit- Students will complete activities to review and practice for the AP exam on May 22nd. After the exam, students will participate in film study.
