End of Year 2019-2020 Sophomore Awards

Quarter 3 Awards

What is your class working on in Quarter 4?

Geometry- Students will continue to have short daily assignments for most class days. We will be continuing our work with standards in circles and probability. We will also have daily practice work with equations of circles, Venn diagrams and counting principles.

Algebra 2- Students will continue to have short (3-4 question) daily assignments Monday-Wednesday and Friday will be an opportunity for check-ins and making up missing work. We will cover 2 more topics as standards and do an introduction to logarithms to prepare students for precalculus next year.

Religion- With the conclusion of the Church History unit, the sophomore religion curriculum in Quarter 4 will focus on the modern Church by focusing on the work of modern saints. The unit will culminate with a reflection on the importance of saints and those people close to us we consider to be saint-like.

Physics

Chemistry- We will focus on 3-4 content standards and provide students an opportunity to make up missing standards (both content and literacy) until the end of the school year.

English- Students will create a project that incorporates multiple genres of writing and visuals to reflect on life during a pandemic.

World History AP- APWHx is in review mode. We have a review guide that goes over the key concepts and has adaptations for the new test version. We’re doing multiple DBQs with peer reviews until the AP Exam.

World History- WHx is reassessing core standards. We are also analyzing documents as Daily Practice and Engagement grades.

Heritage Spanish- Students will complete weekly journal entries and independent reading. Assessments for Quarter 4 include a writing project and completion of independent reading.

Spanish 1- Students have a variety of weekly assignments. Assessments for quarter 4 include writing a story based on a podcast and recording themselves reading their story aloud.
