This page is mainly addressed to collectors; each brand has produced its cases, made up of various from those of others. Smaller brands have often used cases from other manufacturers.
Towards the end of the production of blank, Axia has also used cases Maxell products.
Used by Axia since 1997 with the PS, it remained in production until 2003 with the series "Select your Style".
It was produced in many colors, adequate to the blank color.
It is in rigid plastic, the opening is done with the press of two buttons; the two sides are hinged at the front.
In 2003, with the J'ZC Paki series, Axia introduced a container for 5 MDs in soft plastic, indestructible, unlike the containers presented in the past by Sony and TDK, in rigid plastic. These containers were produced in different colors and used by other brands such as Saenah, Sony, Prime Disc.
The same container model has been produced by various brands and colors also for 10 MDs.
On the left, the first case introduced by Maxell, very similar to the first introduced by TDK with a rough surface at the apex to allow opening. On the right the second model, introduced in 1995 with the first colored MDs. e proseguita fino al 1998. Sliding opening.
This cases was introduced from Maxell in 1998. The production was continued for a few years until the 3° series Twinkle. The completely transparent version is found in "cheap" MDs such as the Colors series from 1998, the XLll, the Billiards. The "fumè" version was on Twinkle and "high class" MDs. Note the difference in the opening of the two versions. Rigid plastic, with slide opening by pressing on the two small buttons.
In 2002 this cover was introduced, aesthetically identical to the previous one. Manufactured in soft plastic and was associated with models like the SX, Happy Music, 1° series Couler, Burari. There are two versions, one"simplified"

Presented with the series Miffy, in 2002, associated with the production of Colorclub, and Twinkle series 4, they are in rigid plastic, with slide opening.

Last case presented by Maxell, was used by the 2005/2006 until the end of production. Note that has also been used by many other brands such as in Axia Happy Color 1 and 2 , Primemedia Pastel Colors etc. Rigid plastic, the opening is obtained by pressure; the two sides are hinged at the rear.

This is the first case produced by Sony, very dark gray color, it was produced up to the MDW series in 94/95. Sliding opening.
This is the second case produced by Sony, black color, takes the shape of the notches that will be maintained until the end of production. starts with the Sony Colors 2nd series and continues until the introduction of the Sony Neige 1st series. On the right you can see a blue variant used for the Prism 1 series.
This is the third case produced by Sony, is soft plastic. The opening and closing pressure occur. It followed the same the production of mds until 2006. Tends to turn yellow if left uncovered. Open book. This case is much lighter than the previous ones, weighing 11.5 gr. against 14.6 of the previous model with a considerable saving for transport costs. Obviously it is indestructible.

These cases were produced for the 1st series of ES (left) and for the 2nd series (right).
These cases were produced for the 1st series of Sparkling (right) and for both the Lumina and Sparkling 2nd series on the left. Rigid plastic, curving allows mechanism with sliding-scrolling of the front.
On the left the 1st case of TDK produced up to and including the TDK Colors 1995 series, little grey color , on the right the 2nd model of case, black, produced from the 1996 TDK XG series up to and including TDK Excellent 1999. Sliding opening. Only exception is TDK RXG 1998 produced with the subsequent completely transparent case.
This case was used only for TDK and branded MDs produced by TDK as Tsutaya. From the left, 1° series of Music Jack, 2 ° series of Music Jack, 3 series of Music Jack and Glay. The central notch was to facilitate the release of blank, the first two was sliding, the 3° type was open book type.

Usedby many brands ( BASF, Hi Space, Xeus, etc.), is the only cases with full closure, excellent to prevent dust or the fall of a blank, awkward to use.
