TDK
TDK
TDK, a company founded in 1935; initially he worked in the field of ferrite. After the war it began the production of magnetic supports and electronic components in both industrial civilization. Production increased with the introduction of cassette tapes of which he became one of the world leaders. When Sony introduced the MD, it was the first manufacturer to introduce a magneto-optical media, competing with Sony. the experience accumulated with the production of cassette tapes both in aesthetics and technology has been reported in the MDS; an example the RXG pro with metal skeleton was already presented as a cassette tape. Two of TDK's products strike me: the XS - iv and the Bit Club. The first were produced in Europe, and, given the success of the limited edition, they were followed in Japan with a new series, the Bit Club. ln 1999 TDK Europe made the decision to market a series of limited edition MDs in europe; for the graphic aspect it turned to young designers. I don't know the names of all the artists, but MlNlstry of sound was created by Scott Parker, Bow wow wow by Massimo Giacon, Girotondo by Anna Gili. Produced in 74 / 80 min; i don t know if all were presented in 80 min. An anecdote, in 2013 I wrote a letter on headed paper to the TDK museum (yes, there is a TDK museum in Japan) asking for information about the MD Bit Club and XS-iv. This is the answer : This is TDK History Museum and we received your inquiry about our MD products. The products Bit Club and XS-iv are discontinued products and our recording media business transferred in 2007. Such being the case, we do not have new information to provide you with. We are very sorry about this but please understand the situation. I sent an e-mail in which I asked who I should contact for news. This is the answer : We TDK transferred the TDK brand world wide recording media business forcurrent and future recording media to Imation Corp. in 2007. But Imation Corp. does not have TDK's historical information of any kind, TDK Corp. has the historical products and some information. Though we TDK have searched your request of MD information, unfortunatelywe could not getanything because it were very old products and their business finished already. We can only provide you the photo in the TDK History Museum, and that is all. Please understand this situation. ln this photo in PDF there are 9 Bit Club, the first three series. As my answer I thanked for the collaboration and I pointed out the link on which I had uploaded the photos of 11 XS-iv and 32 Bit Club; in the following days I received over 60 visits from the TDK museum area. They were curious. Thought of the evening: it makes one think that after 14 years, not even the TDK Museum knows their production.
